Maymont Richmond maternity photography sessions offer some of the most beautiful backdrops in our city. When Jessa and Taylor Barnes joined me there for their maternity portraits, the spring blooms and perfect golden light created absolute magic.
Maymont Park has long been one of my favorite Richmond locations for maternity photos. First of all, the variety of settings is unmatched – from manicured gardens to natural wooded areas, we can create a diverse gallery without changing locations.
Additionally, the spring blooms provided a stunning backdrop for the Barnes’ session. Those vibrant colors complemented Jessa’s maternity glow perfectly and created images filled with life and promise – just like their growing family.
Timing is everything for outdoor maternity sessions. For the Barnes family, we scheduled their session during the “golden hour” – that magical time just before sunset when the light is warm and flattering. This created a beautiful glow around Jessa that highlighted her radiant pregnancy.
Moreover, we timed their session to coincide with peak spring blooms at Maymont. The flowering trees and gardens made for breathtaking settings that celebrated the season of new life.
One of the best things about Maymont is the variety of stunning backdrops. During the Barnes’ session, we moved through several areas of the park. The Japanese Garden offered serene water features, while the arboretum provided lush greenery and flowering trees.
In fact, we found a gorgeous flowering tree that created a canopy of blossoms above them – one of my favorite shots from their entire gallery. These diverse settings gave them a rich collection of images with different looks and feels.
Having photographed Jessa and Taylor since their engagement, including their wedding, I was thrilled to document this new chapter. Their decision to book our full package with gender reveal, maternity, and newborn photos ensures they’ll have a complete visual story of this transformative time.
Furthermore, these connected sessions across life’s biggest moments create a meaningful narrative that grows more valuable with each passing year. I can’t wait to meet their little one at their upcoming newborn session!
