As a Richmond studio family photographer, I love the controlled environment that allows for clean, timeless portraits. The Keeleys’ recent studio session showcases exactly why studio photography can be perfect for young families.
The Keeleys hold a special place in my heart. Marissa not only works as our admin assistant but has become a dear friend. Moreover, our sons were born just three weeks apart, currently 18 months old and growing faster than seems possible!
Our studio offers the perfect blank canvas for family sessions. The clean white walls provide a timeless backdrop that keeps the focus entirely on the family. Additionally, exposed brick walls offer a more textured alternative that adds warmth and dimension to certain shots.
One of the joys of being a Richmond studio family photographer is documenting sibling bonds. Watching the Keeley children interact was absolutely heartwarming. Their natural connection and playfulness with each other also created genuine moments that required very little direction from me.
The abundant natural light in our studio space creates beautiful, flattering illumination for family portraits. Consequently, we can achieve that soft, glowing quality that’s so complimentary for all skin tones and ages. The controlled environment also means we don’t have to worry about weather or rapidly changing lighting conditions.
I noticed how comfortable the children felt in the studio space. Without the distractions of an outdoor setting, they remained engaged and connected throughout our session. The simplicity of the background allowed their personalities and relationships to take center stage.
Seeing how much the children adore their mom was particularly touching. All in all, the spontaneous hugs and loving glances make for the most meaningful images – the ones families will treasure for generations.
