I recently had the pleasure of capturing some Richmond cherry blossom family photography with the incredible Woodford family. Can you believe these amazing people are not only our close friends but also our talented second shooter team for weddings? Somehow, we hadn’t gotten them in front of our camera until now!
The cherry blossom season in Richmond offers a magical but fleeting backdrop for family portraits. Additionally, these delicate white blooms create a dreamy atmosphere that transforms ordinary photos into extraordinary memories. The soft petals and distinctive branches frame families beautifully, creating depth and interest in every shot.
The Woodfords made an excellent choice with their white outfits that perfectly complemented the white blossoms. Furthermore, this created a bright, cohesive look that allowed their genuine expressions and connections to stand out. Their clothing choice demonstrates how thoughtful coordination (rather than exact matching) enhances the overall visual impact of your photos.
Timing is everything with cherry blossom sessions! We were fortunate to catch a gorgeous sunny day when the blooms were at their peak. However, these beautiful flowers typically only last about two weeks each spring. Therefore, flexibility in scheduling is key to capturing these special moments.
Little Maggie was absolutely adorable during our session! Instead of forcing posed smiles, we played games and explored the blossoming trees together. As a result, we captured those authentic expressions that truly reflect her personality. Natural interactions among family members always create the most treasured images.
Working with friends makes these sessions even more special. The Woodfords brought their professional photography and videography expertise, yet they relaxed completely as clients in front of the camera. This comfort level shines through in their images.
Getting your family photos taken among Richmond’s cherry blossoms creates timeless portraits with a distinctly seasonal touch. These photos not only preserve your family as you are right now but also capture a cherished Richmond spring tradition.
