Two days. Nineteen families. Endless smiles. As a Richmond mini session photographer, I live for weekends like this! Our Mother’s Day mini sessions at The Studio on Broad were nothing short of incredible.
Mini sessions are a game-changer for families on a budget or those wanting a quick professional photo update. In just 20-30 minutes, we capture those priceless family moments without the investment of a full session. Basically, for busy parents, these bite-sized photo experiences are perfect – no long waits, no exhausted kids, just pure photographic magic.
We switched things up with two completely different looks. The first weekend featured a clean white backdrop with stunning colorful floral arrangements. Then, our second weekend embraced a cozy living room vibe – complete with a vintage bench, a gorgeous house plant, and a warm tan backdrop.
Mother’s Day is about honoring the incredible women who shape our lives. These mini sessions gave families a chance to document their current chapter – moms with babies, moms with grown children, grandmothers with grandkids. Every family also brought their unique energy and love.
Let me tell you about The Studio on Broad – it’s basically a Richmond mini session photographer playground! The versatile spaces, incredible lighting, and thoughtful design make creating beautiful images almost too easy. Having a consistent, professional location also means families can focus on enjoying their time together.
If you’re considering a mini session, here are my top tips: Choose coordinating (not matching) outfits, come with a positive attitude, and be ready to have fun. We’ll handle the rest! Mini sessions work best when families are relaxed and open to a bit of playful direction.
The kids during our Mother’s Day minis were absolute stars. Seriously, 19 families and not a single major meltdown during a session? That’s practically a photography miracle! Furthermore, each family brought their own personality, creating a diverse gallery of memories.
Richmond mini sessions offer an accessible way to preserve your family’s story. Whether you’re marking a milestone, celebrating a holiday, or just want updated photos, these shorter sessions pack a powerful punch.
To all the moms out there – you’re incredible. These photos are a small tribute to the love, patience, and magic you certainly bring to your families every single day.
